Nigerian army arrests fake lieutenant (photos)– One Eze Mavus Ugochukwu, a Bauchi state polytechnic student has been arrested by Nigerian army for parading himself as a lieutenant in the army.

According to Officers of the 33 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi state the arrest of Eze Mavus Ugochukwu, was a result of numerous complaints for members of the public.

Insideschool Nigeria gathered that this was disclosed in a statement shared on the official Twitter handle of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Eze, a student of Computer Science, Bauchi state polytechnic, was handed over to the EFCC Gombe Zonal Office for interrogation, and possible prosecution.

According to report his arrest was followed by a complaint from one Mrs. Dorcas Oni who had given Eze, the suspect N400,000 to help his son in securing admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

The EFCC’s investigation, review that the suspect had defrauded other victims to the tune of N1,455,000 using the same military bait. The money was paid into his two bank accounts between December 2019 and July 2020.

It was also gathered that Ugochukwu, an indigene of Nsukka local government area of Enugu state succeeded in making his victims believe he was a lieutenant by using a software call photoshop to edit himself into army uniforms.

The suspect would photo-shop his face on the images and attach his name tag on the uniforms.

Further finding revealed that he forged military documents that he presented to convince his victims that he would secure NDA admission for them.

The Nigerian army also arrested a Lieutenant-Colonel Afolabi Hassan and a Major Afolabi Allen Adegboyega, who had been parading themselves as senior officers of the army for 12 years.

As soon as the investigations are concluded he will be charged to court.
