2020 WAEC GCE Result is out. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2020 GCE WAEC Results (January/February 1st and 2nd Series WASSCE) for Private Candidates. See how to check the result below.


2020 WAEC GCE Result

This is to inform the general public that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has announced the release of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE for private candidates, 2019 – Second Series This was announced by the Head of the Nigeria National Office Olu Adenipekun at a press briefing.

He disclosed that Ninety-Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Four (94,884) candidates that took the exam. Out of which 49,679 candidates representing 52.36% obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five (5) subjects (with or without English Language and/or Mathematics while 33,304 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

He further stated that 91,225 candidates have their results fully processed and released while 3,659 candidates have a few of their subjects still being processed.

9,457 candidates were reported to have been involved in one form of examination malpractice or the other, and their cases will be presented to the appropriate Committee of Council and the decision of the Council on their cases will be communicated to the affected candidates within the shortest possible time.

Mr. Olu Olanipekun revealed that beginning with the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2019-Second Series, the collection of certificates would be based on requests by candidates online.

How to Check 2020 WAEC GCE Result.

  • Go to the WAEC result checking portal www.waecdirect.org.
  • Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number.  (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)
  • Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2018
  • Select the Type of Examination  i.e. PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT
  • Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
  • Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
  • Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up

How to Check WAEC GCE Nov/Dec Result via SMS.

In case you want to check your 2020 WAEC GCE result via SMS, use the shortcode format below:

  • WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear To short-code 32327 (MTN, Airtel & Glo subscribers)
  • For example -: WAEC*4250101001*123456789012*2013

Note: Ensure you adhere strictly to the format above. There should be no space in the message.

Hint: you can only use your result checker 5 times, so use it judiciously

What is WAEC Withheld Result?

According to Adenipekun, some of the results were withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.”

In simple words, it was reported that you or your center were involved in examination malpractice.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will investigate the report and if the candidates/school were found culpable, their results will be cancelled.

If they are not culpable then their results will be released.

When will the withheld result be released? No exact date yet!

The Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) will meet next week to decide on the malpractice cases arising from the conduct of that examination and others.
