The authorities of Gregory University School of Postgraduate Studies, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its various postgraduate programmes for the 2020/2021 academic session.
Gregory University Postgraduate Admission Requirement
- All Certificates shall be available at the point of purchasing the application form, including the National Youth Service Corp DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE OR EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE.
- Candidates are expected to submit their application forms online together with the scanned copies of their credentials.
- Transcripts of Academic Records should be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. The Postgraduate School will not be held liable for any misdirected transcript, please.
- All candidates must have 5 O/L Credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Applicants for the Master degree programmes who are graduates of GUU and other recognized Universities must have a minimum of Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) and must be applying for programmes in which they have their first degrees. However, applicants with Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) and those with higher classes of degrees seeking admissions into programmes outside those in which they have their first degrees may be admitted, provided they satisfy Senate. All Candidates shall apply early for their official Bachelor’s degree transcript to be sent to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, before the expiration of the deadline.
- Applicants for the Postgraduate programmes will be subjected to written assessment (qualifying examination) irrespective of the class of degree obtained

M.Sc./M.A. Programmes
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Master’s degree programmes in the College of Post Graduate Studies, Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State for the 2020/2021 academic session in the following areas:

Master of Science/ Master of Arts (M.Sc. M.A) Programmes
The following may apply for admission into the M.Sc./M.A. programmes of Gregory University, Uturu:
Minimum General Requirements
Candidates for all Postgraduate programmes must have a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and Mathematics, and any three relevant subjects at one or two sittings from SSCE, GCE, NECO or IGCSE, in addition to other Departmental/Faculty and General University Requirements.
In addition to the minimum general requirements, candidates who seek admission into the Gregory University, Uturu M.Sc./M.A. programmes must be:
- Graduates of Gregory University, Uturu or from other approved Universities who have obtained a good first degree in the relevant field of study with minimum Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities who do not use FCGPA.
- Candidates who hold Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.00 and above (on a 5 point scale) are eligible to apply.
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) Progreammes
The following may apply for admission into the M.Phil. Programme of Gregory University, Uturu:
Minimum General Requirements
Candidates for all Postgraduate programmes must have a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and Mathematics, and any three relevant subjects at one or two sittings from SSCE, GCE, NECO or IGCSE in addition to other Departmental/Faculty and General University requirements.
In addition to the minimum general requirements, candidates who seek admission into the Gregory University, Uturu M.Phil. Programme must be:
- Graduates of Gregory University, Uturu or from other approved Universities who have obtained a good first degree in the relevant field of study with minimum Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for Universities who do not use FCGPA.
- Candidates who hold Postgraduate Diploma from recognised institutions with an FCGPA of 3.00 and above (on a 5 point scale) are eligible to apply.
- Submit a brief proposal of not more than 500 words on the proposed area of research. The proposal should address the following areas: research focus, your motivation for the stud, and why you think your research is of significance.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programme
In addition to the minimum general requirements, candidates who seek admission into the Gregory University, Uturu Ph.D Programme must:
- Be graduates of Gregory University, Uturu or from other approved universities who hold Master’s Degree in the proposed field of study with minimum Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 3.5 on a point scale or a minimum of 70% for universities that do not use the FCGPA.
- Submit a brief proposal of not more than 1500 words on the propose area of research. The proposal should address the following areas: introduction (research focus and motivation), a brief review of the literature, how you intend to conduct the research (methodology), and conclusion (why you think your research is of significance).
- Where considered necessary, candidates may be required to attend a pre-admission interview (this could be in person, Gregory University Skype or other mode).
Duration of Programmes of Gregory Postgraduate Program
Master of Science/Master of Arts (M.Sc./M.A) Programmes
- Full-time: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Programme
- Full-time: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programme
- Full-time: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.
Please note that, in exceptional cases, candidates may be granted an extension beyond the above specified maximum registration period.
