The National Examination Council of Nigeria (NECO) has released the Offline Registration Software for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE June/July and Nov/Dec) and the Basic Certificate Examination [BECE].

Cyber Cafe agents or Registration Centers are advised to download the NECO SSCE (June/July and Nov/Dec) 2021 and BECE 2021 Offline Registration Software for them to be able to carry out the registration process.

Follow the links below to download the following software’s update to your various computers.

NOTE: Only Download and Install the DCO Software Updates App if you are encountering any problems with the earlier installed software apps.

1. DCO Software Update

You can download and install this patch if you encounter general software errors on the Data Capture Operators Version of SSCE Offline Registration Software. If the problem persists, please contact NECO support

2. SSCE Software Update 

You can download and install this patch if you encounter general software errors on the School Version of SSCE Offline Registration Software.

NECO SSCE 2021 and BECE Offline Registration Software Registration Guidelines

A System Requirements 

The SSCE offline app is a windows based application used for registering candidates for the examination. It provides a simple means for centers to register exam candidates and upload their information to NECO at a later time.  

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:OS: 32-bit or 64-bit (Windows 7Windows 8,Windows 10)
DirectX: 9.0 or Higher
RAM: 2GB or Higher
Processor Speed: 2Ghz or Higher

Fingerprint Device:Model: FS80H
Manufacturer: FUTRONIC(below are images of the finger print scanner)
The only device that can be used for collection of candidate biometrics is the FUTRONIC FINGER SCANNER

Where To Get the App.

Installation from CD

After your registration has been completed, NECO provides you with a Registration Package which contains a CD. This CD contains the NECO SSCE offline Application.

Download Application

The following step on will guide you on how to download the offline application on your system.

  1. Launch web browser on your PC
  2. Visit www.neco.gov.ng
  3. Click on download NECO installation app.
  4. Select x64 or x86 depending on your Operating System
  5. Wait for the download to finish.
  6. Install the app on your PC

B. How to Install Your Copy of the NECO BECE, SSCE Offline Application / Software

If the application has been completely downloaded or successfully read by the computer, we can now proceed to installing the application.

1. Locate the downloaded application on your download folder and double click on the installation and follow the instructions.

2. Select the Folder where you’d like to install the Application

3. Follow the installation step and install Java.

4. Next the driver for the fingerprint scanner will be installed, click on finish once done.

5. Click finish once all process have completed.

C. Getting Started with the NECO SSCE, BECE Offline App / Software

After installation is complete, follow the steps below to begin using your version of SSCE online app.

  • Step 1 Click on the SSCE Offline app on your desktop to open it.
  • Step 2 Once open enter your Schools ID or choose from a list of available schools.

Step 3. Click on continue to get to the Dashboard

D. How to Register Candidates

After successfully getting to your dashboard, you will notice different tabs and buttons on the the home screen. To begin with candidate registration follow the steps below;

Step 1:

Click on the ‘Add New Candidate’ Button or Registration Tab to begin Candidate registration

Step 2:

Enter the candidates details and click on the save button

Step 3
The next step is to select the candidates subjects. A candidate is required to select a minimum total of 8 subjects and maximum of 9(6 or 7 Core subjects, 1 Trade subject and 1 Elective subject). Input the candidates 1st CA and 2nd CA and click next

Step 4
The final step is to upload your candidates photo. Make sure the passport photograph uploaded is with the required specifications i.e dimensions should be no more than a maximum of 140px *140px and a minimum of 70px * 70px, and the the candidates face is showing in the picture.

E. How to Capture a Candidates Biometrics

After you completely registered a candidate for the SSCE, you need to collect their bio-metrics i.e their fingerprints. To begin this process follow the steps below;

  1. Login to your offline app, if already logged in, click on the Fingerprint Tab.
  2. Select a student which you’d like to capture

  • Connect recommended fingerprint scanner
  • Take candidates fingerprint record.

F. How to Export Validation List

The validation list is a list of a the students who will be taking the exams. After a candidate has validated all his/her information the candidate will be required to sign and the list is then sent to NECO.
To print out a validation list;

  • Step 1
    Login to your SSCE offline App
  • Step 2
    Click on the Report tab on the top right side of the application
  • Step 3
    Click on ‘Export Validation List’ button, NB: this process will print out for all candidates that have been registered.
  • Step 4
    Select an appropriate folder and click proceed.
  • Step 5
    Click on ‘Done’ to finish process.

G. How to Export Candidates Photocard

Candidates Photocard is a printout, for candidates who have completed their registration. The Photocard contains the candidates registered information, center, total subjects registered, a bar-code and space for the candidate to sign. The photocard also contains a person’s photograph on it, which they can use to prove who they are.
Follow the steps below to print out a candidates photocard.

  • Step 1
    Login to your SSCE application
  • Step 2
    Click on the Report tab on the top right hand side
  • Step 3
    Click on the Export Candidates Photocard. NB: this process will export all registered candidates into a single PDF file.
  • Step 4
    Select an appropriate folder to save the file and then click proceed.
  • Step 5
    Click on on Done to finish the process.

H. How to Export Entry Schedules

The entry schedule is a list which every candidate must sign after he or she has completed his registration and is sure the subjects shown are what he has chosen to write in the examination. This process is a means by which candidates validate there registration.
To export Entry schedule:

  • Step 1
    Login to your offline application, if your already logged in, move to step 2.
  • Step 2
    Click on the ‘Report’ tab located at the top right hand side of your application
  • Step 3
    Click on the ‘Export Entry Schedule’.
  • Step 4
    A pop-up window will show that this process is for all candidates, click the’ Proceed’ button to continue.
  • Step 5
    Select an appropriate folder to save the the the exported form.
  • Step 6
    Once the process is complete click on the ‘Done’ button to finish the process.
  • Step 7
    Once the process is complete, locate the exported file and send to print

I. How to Export Subject Analysis Form

The Subject analysis form is a the total amount of of subjects which each candidatae has registered for the examination. This list is exported an sent to NECO for validation and to inform them of how many students will be writing each exam paper.
To export and print you validation list:

  • Step 1
    Login to your offline application, if your already logged in, move to step 2.
  • Step 2
    Click on the Report tab located at the top right hand side of your application
  • Step 3
    Click on the Export Validation List.
  • Step 4
    A pop-up window will show that this process is for all candidates, click the Proceed button to continue.
  • Step 5
    Select an appropriate folder to save the the the exported form.
  • Step 6
    Once the process is complete click on the Done button to finish the process.
  • Step 7
    Once the process is complete, locate the exported file and send to print

J. How to Upload Completed Registration

Once you have completed a Candidates registration, you need to upload his/her details to NECO server to confirm their payment. Kindly ensure that you are connected to the internet before you begin following the steps below as an internet connection is required to synchronize with NECO server.

  • Step 1
    Click on the Payment and Upload Tab
  • Step 2
    Login as an Operator, using your Operator details. Please note once the operator has logged in, he remains permanently logged in.
  • Step 3
    Click on the Check Payment button at the top left corner
  • Step 4
    After click on the “check  on the button you’ll be required to provide the administrator login details. Kindly get your administrator to do so.
  • Step 5
    After admin has logged in you will be able to see how many students have paid for their NECO registration.
  • Step 6
    Click on the upload students button on the top right side. NB: if there are anymore uploads or incomplte uploads the total number remianing will show on the upload button and you will be rquired to upload all the remaining students.

K. How to Change Examination Center

  • Step 1
    Login into your application and go to the dashboard or home screen of the application.
  • Step 2
    Click on the  UPDOWN arrow on the top left of the screen.
  • Step 3
    Enter the Center number of the school you wish to change to and click Ok. NB: clicking ok will change the school you’re currently working on to the school whose center number you just entered

Alternatively,

  • Open  your SSCE application
  • Enter a new school number
  • Click update.NB: clicking on the update button will not change schools for you button will save the school into the DB and will let you keep working on your current school.
  • Click Ok button. You’ll be logged into the new center.

L. How to Check Your Payments Transactions

Before you can check payments you need to connect to the Internet as this process checks the students details online to confirm payments. Follow the steps below;

  • Step 1
    Connect your system to an available network
  • Step 2
    Click on the Payment&Upload tab
  • Step 3
    You will notice an arrow is point at the check payment button, click on it
  • Step 4
    Once you’ve clicked on it you’ll be requested to enter the operator password.
  • Step 5
    The app will synchronize with NECO servers to find all payments that have been made. If any payments have been made, You will need to enter the Admin details. 
  • Step 6
    Once Admin details have been provided, the total number of payments made will be shown in a pop-up window. Click the Ok button to continue.
