In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the University of Lagos Business School Advisory Board and a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babajide Alo, FAS welcomed the dignitaries while describing the days’ event as an epoch-making one considering how the school started. He said as a University known for excellence, the Business school cannot afford to lower the standards already laid by the many successes being recorded by the University while noting that the core values of the school will be apparent in their activities in order to achieve excellence despite the Institution starting late.

The Vice-Chancellor echoed the thoughts of the previous speakers but highlighted that the projects on campus being commissioned and several others embarked upon are a testament to the University vision of being a leading brand in Infrastructural growth coupled with the growing need to transform the scope of learning. He mentioned that today’s’ reality meant the University had to go through the route of public-private arrangement which he noted has been triggered by changes in funding modalities in university governance, accountability frameworks, as well as growing competition among higher education institutions and the evolving student population. He, however, thanked the donor for believing in the University dream.

According to the Chairman of Platform Capital, Dr. Akintoye Akindele, who unequivocally remarked that what makes the University of Lagos different is the obsession to change the narrative. As such, he is delighted to contribute his own quota as a stakeholder who believes in the Nigerian dream while also being optimistic that the school can become the lead others can follow in transforming the enterprise into successful high-impact ones even with the establishment of such a facility. Furthermore, he said it will improve growth and development in four major areas of concerns which includes Education, Entrepreneurship, Gender Equality and Health.

Other dignitaries include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Prof Ben Oghojafor; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Development Services, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola; Provost, CMUL, Prof. F E A Lesi; Director Academic Affairs, Prof L.O Chukwu; Former Registrar, Dr. Taiwo Ipaye and the Director of HRDC Dr. Lateef Odekunle amongst others.
